If you read my post from Sunday, you will know that my family are going through the wringer this week. However, I do have a positive update. The decision was taken late on Sunday night for my brother-in-law to have his leg amputated above the knee. The operation was performed yesterday afternoon. The surgery took 3 and a half hours. It’s early days, but he made it, and was awake briefly last night to be able to speak just a couple of words to my sister. Having said this, major surgery can take it’s toll, especially on people with a severe heart condition, and the next 48 hours are critical. After that he is expected to be in intensive care for at least a week, and then of course starts the long road to recovery and rehabilitation. It’s going to be a long, hard road, with many hurdles, but the first one is passed.
In other news and on a much lighter note, the UK is experiencing unusually warm weather for February, with temperatures as high as the late teens, and even was 20 degrees in a couple of places yesterday. It’s almost springtime.
