Yesterday, I was sitting in my house watching the tellybox, when I heard a knock at my door. This is rare these days, the only person recently to knock my door are my sister and the grocery delivery man, and I know when they are both going to appear, so I was a little surprised to say the least. When I got to the door, and opened it, standing right there on the doorstep, and I mean RIGHT there, he hadn’t even taken a few steps back, let alone moved back required two metres, was my neighbour. He’s actually a very nice man but I was like woah! you’re invading my safe space Mr!
Now, my neighbour, he’s nice, but he’s not home like me, he’s a carer so is still working, his wife works in a prison, so she is still working too, and I knew this. I have been home now nearly two months, and so far I am infection free, because I have managed to avoid, well, people! So, I was quite alarmed that he wasn’t considerate enough to move back. I asked him politely if he would just take a few steps back. I don’t think that is an unreasonable request. Anyway he very kindly did as I asked. Then he proceeded to ask me if there was anything I needed from the shops. I told him that no, I was ok, unless he managed to see any eggs anywhere, as I hadn’t been able to get any for about three weeks. He left then, telling me he would bring me some if he saw any.
So, fast forward to this morning, I was in the kitchen making coffee an toast, and, there was another knock at the door. I went to answer it, just in time to see him go back into his house and shut the door, but there, on my doorstep was a box of a dozen fresh eggs, and a note with his mobile phone number, asking me to call him if there was anything I needed in future.
