Our nation has been eagerly awaiting an announcement today, from our Prime Minister, where he was going to set out a plan for the way forward and easing of lockdown measures. Generally there has been a lot of expectations on what this statement would say. I was pretty sure there would be no major changes just yet, as, in my opinion for us here in the UK, it’s way too soon to change too much just yet. And I was right. There are still no big changes. That’s the right thing to do. From Wednesday this week there will be a little more freedom, as people will be able to go out and exercise for unlimited times, instead of the once a day rule we have now. Also, people who can not work from home should begin to return to work, avoiding public transport where possible. These two changes are, of course, subject to the strict social distancing measures that remain in place. Other than that, if all goes well, 1st of June could see more shops re-opening.
For me personally, there is no change. Although I am able to work from home, I was notified last week that my furlough leave has been extended until the end of May. The easing of exercise restrictions makes no difference to me as I am still shielding due to health issues.
So there we have it, still safe in solitude here.
