One of the struggles I’ve been having all through the lockdown is with food. See, I eat when I’m bored, and I eat for comfort, in fact I have a really unhealthy relationship with food at the best of times. So trying to find something to occupy mind mind enough to not reach for the doughnuts is a real challenge.
I have always loved to read, I don’t have favourite genre or author, I will read anything and everything. I just love a good book. One of the joys I have found during lockdown is that immersing my head in a good book has worked wonders for me not picking at snacks, with my mind completely engrossed in the storyline, I’ve rarely thought about food between meals.
I have read The Handmaids Tale, and Testaments by Margaret Attwood, both were amazing books and totally had me riveted from start to finish, if you haven’t read these, then I highly recommend you do. I have also just yesterday finished The Light Between Oceans by M. L. Steadman, this one was quite sad, but a great story, and again if you haven’t, add it to your list, because it is amazing. I was given this book to read by my niece, just after my hubby passed away in 2017, she told me not to read it straight away, because she felt it was not appropriate for me to read it at that time, and I put it away, and forgot all about it until I was looking for something more to read a few weeks ago. I can totally understand now, having read it what she meant. It’s a story of love, and life, and loss.
Anyway, now I’m looking for the next novel I can escape into, feel free to suggest anything in the comments, all suggestions will be considered, and I’ll even write a little review of it here on my blog once I’ve read it!
